The most commonly used methods of hair transplantation are Sapphire FUE and DHI. Hair transplant centers will evaluate patients' needs to determine the most suitable treatment plan for them. In cases where individuals have extensive baldness or thinning hair, the "MIX Method" may be employed in order to get optimal results.
One of the preferred hair transplant techniques is FUE, which requires a doctor's assessment prior to its initiation. As part of this procedure, the back of the head is clipped short to facilitate easy extraction of hair roots. Afterward, each root is separately harvested from the donor area, followed by preparation of the baldness area for transplanted roots. This method proves to be most beneficial for those with a wide range of baldness.
Sapphire FUE has taken the place of the traditional FUE procedure, which involved metal tools. Instead, Sapphire FUE utilises sapphire glass blades as an alternative; these blades are made of valuable materials and come with triangular prism tips to provide superior wound healing and a more natural look.
DHI is the latest and top-choice method. Instead of creating channels for implantation, it uses a "Micro Motor" to take roots from the donor area and move them into special pens, known as "Implanter Pen". This process eliminates the need for stitches or incision marks, reducing any damage and bleeding and speeding up recovery.
When considering a hair transplant, most people must evaluate their options between two distinct procedures. Combining both methods in the MIX Technique, which employs Sapphire FUE and DHI, typically results in greater success for those experiencing hair loss over larger, balding sections as well as general thinning areas. Today in 2022, Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Direct Hair Transplantation (DHI) are widely used as the latest methods for hair transplantation. Other options may exist, though they generally require more interventions, complexity, and a longer recovery time making them less favorable solutions. We will take a closer look at FUE and DHI.
This method involves removing hairs from the donor area one at a time. It is done using a micro motor-driven hollow needle of 0.6 to 0.9 mm in diameter, opening U-shaped canals. The sapphire FUE hair transplant technique deviates from conventional FUE practices, as it utilises sapphire blades with sizes between 0.8 and 1.5 mm, leading to V-shaped incisions that provide greater hair density. The low-impact incisions and shortened recovery times make this technique extremely helpful for smaller sites, where as many as 6000+ grafts can be transplanted in one procedure.
Direct Hair Transplantation is a modern hair transplant approach that eliminates the need for pre-cuts, as follicles are inserted directly into desired spots with the aid of Coi Pen - an implanting tool. Minimal incisions and scarring are hallmarks of this system, allowing for rapid healing in between sessions. DHI is suitable for smaller regions, allowing up to 4,000 grafts per session.
The Mix Hair Transplant is our most personalized approach as it combines the Sapphire FUE and DHI methods. With the latter, we are able to focus on areas of hair loss, while the former is best suited for larger, nearly bald zones.
